Lion's Roar Competition 2021

Year six have been taking part in the 2021 Lions Roar competition this term, supported by our Local Lions Club members Ann and Eric. Our winning team have designed a healthy snack shop for the children at school. They will now go on to be entered into the national competition. This was a fantastic project and the children learnt about how to design and market their ideas.

New Play Equipment

Copplestone Primary is thrilled with the new play equipment in the KS1 playground. The children have certainly been enjoying it already and it is a fabulous addition to the provision at playtimes. This was recently installed by Outdoor Play and I am sure the children agree they have done a fabulous job.

Comic Relief 2021

Finally, some much-needed laughter and silly jokes were enjoyed at Copplestone Primary School and Pre-School as we marked Red Nose Day 2021 – It was lovely to see the children dressed in their own clothes with a splash of red – The children were encouraged to bring in a joke and share this with their class. There were some cracking jokes!

We have raised £151.50 for Comic Relief

Copplestone Primary Visit to the War Memorial

Year six pupils from Copplestone Primary School laid a wreath at the village war memorial on behalf of the school and pre school. One of the children read a poem and the children had a period of silence to remember those who lost their lives.

The children in Reception Class were also busy making a giant poppy and the whole school took part in a two-minute silence.

For more than 30 years, millions of children from nearly 100 countries have participated. The winners of this year’s competition were scheduled to be exhibited in the Cloisters of Wells Cathedral from 22-29 May. Due to Coronavirus they have set up a virtual art gallery for everyone to view.

International Peace Poster Contest

We are extremely proud to announce one of our Year 6 children Won! Their amazing art will now be displayed.

Key Stage 1 were enchanted to have Naomi from Naturemake work with them for the day. Naturemake arrived with many natural resources for children to create their own dwellings from their imaginations.

Year 2 focused on African huts and what we would require for a habitat;  with all natural resources and some careful adult assistance with hot glue guns, the children's finished huts exceeded their imaginations.

Year 1 then adapted these resources to create miniature fantasy dwellings as their dream fairy and elves homes. With creative family support the children took home their dwellings, amazed at their own creations.

We would like to thank the wonderful parents, grandparents and carers who attended these learning together sessions to create an everlasting experience for our children and hope they are equally inspired to create with natural resources they find in their environment.

Harvest Festival

Children and grandparents celebrated harvest in style at Copplestone Primary School this week.
Whilst enjoying coffee and delicious cake, the hall was buzzing with the chatter and laughter of children playing games with their grandparents. A most enjoyable morning was rounded off with singing of some harvest and autumn songs by the children.
Tremendous support was shown for Crediton Food Bank with a generous array of donated goods by the families in our school community.

Creative Curriculum

On Friday afternoons KS2 are enjoying exploring the wider curriculum. This has included Cooking, sewing, sketching and music. The children have enjoyed mixing with other classes and exploring in these subjects.
